Celcom to invest up to RM90mil to set up 124 Blue Cube outlets

KUALA LUMPUR: Celcom Axiata Bhd will invest up to RM90mil to set up another 124 Blue Cube outlets nationwide.

Chief marketing officer Chee Pok Jin said currently, the company had 76 stores nationwide.

By 2012, we plan to have 200 outlets at all major cities in Malaysia, he told reporters after the launch of Our Celcom Our Sale campaign yesterday.

From Dec 8 to March 31, Celcom customers can collect tokens to redeem discount vouchers to buy their favourite telephones offered at all Blue Cube stores, he said.

He said among the phones available for redemption from Jan 15 were Blackberry Torch 9800 and Bold 9780, Nokia C3 and LG Optimus.

Chee said Celcom was constantly looking for ways to reward loyal customers and the campaign was one such instance.

Apart from the rebate, each business segments will also offer exclusive value-for-money bargains for new and existing customers during the campaign period, he said. - Bernama

CELCOM Axiata Bhd, the country's second largest mobile operator, expects to sell some 10,000 units of newly-launched BlackBerry Torch 9800 smartphone by the end of 2010.

"Now we have reached more than 100,000 users of Celcom's BlackBerry and we believe that it will increase by end of this year," said Celcom chief marketing officer Chee Pok Jin.

Celcom had introduced special offers to its customers under Celcom Biz and Celcom Biz Exec plans to achieve the sales target, Chee said.

Through Celcom Exec plan, BlackBerry Torch 9800 packages are priced at RM1,388, RM1,588, and RM1,688 with monthly commitments of RM250, RM148 and RM118.

For corporate customers the monthly commitment ranges from RM188 to RM248 with two years contract.

Chee was speaking after the launch of Celcom BlackBerry Torch 9800 in Kuala Lumpur yesterday.

"Celcom will continue to introduce new and exciting products to ensure that our customers enjoy the mobility and connectivity benefits of the BlackBerry smartphones," he said.

He noted that this was part of the company's aim to strengthen its position as the leader in the country's BlackBerry market.

Currently, Celcom holds a 51 per cent share of the market.

On its expansion, Chee said Celcom planned to introduce a portable tablet computer model and a few new generation communica, devices by end-November.

He said the company was having discussions with various manufacturers in the market for tablet computers to jointly introduce new generation products.

"Currently, there are at least six tablet computer models introduced in the international market," he said.

Meanwhile Celcom director of marketing Zalman Aefendy Zainal Abidin said, through Celcom, BlackBerry 9800 Torch will be sold at RM2,500 at all Blue Cube outlets starting November 3.
